IGLESIA SANTA MARIA
DE
TEBRA
Perteneciente a un antiguo monasterio, tenemos la curiosa cabecera tardorromana de Santa María de Tebra, poligonal al exterior y circular en su interior. Los canecillos exteriores son historiados.
Destacan los capiteles del arco triunfal y del fajón que le acompaña donde aparecen cuadrúpedos de largas patas, serpientes rodeando a un hombre o un águila agarrando un conejo.
Lo que resta de la iglesia de San Salvador de Tebra es parte de los muros con una alterada puerta norte con mochetas de bóvidos y el testero plano con una saetera.
Interiormente la escultura es más abundante. En las columnas del arco triunfal encontramos capiteles que combinan motivos animales (abundan sobre todo los leones) y figuras humanas, aunque lo más importante es la representación de sirenas. Esto es algo muy poco habitual, y también lo encontramos en otras iglesias gallegas, como la Catedral de Santiago, San Martín de Mondoñedo, y la iglesia de Santiago de Breixa.

Belonging to a former monastery, we have the curious late Roman head of St. Mary of vertebrates, polygonal outside and inside circular. The exterior corbels are history.
They emphasize the capitals of the triumphal arch and the accompanying transverse where long-legged beasts appear, snakes around a man or an eagle holding a rabbit.
What remains of the church of San Salvador in vertebrates is part of the walls with an altered mochetas north door of cattle and the plane front with a loophole.
Inside, the sculpture is more abundant. In the columns of the triumphal arch capitals are reasons that combine animals (especially lions abound) and human figures, but more important is the depiction of mermaids. This is very unusual, and also found in other Galician churches, the Cathedral of Santiago, San Martín de Mondoñedo, and the church of Santiago de Breixa.
