Wolfmen pine-trees are trees with huge open air roots. In old times people believed in wolfmen and believed that in a full moon period a human could turn into a wolfman if he takes off all his clothes and slips through the pine-tree’s large roots. If someone wanted to become again a human being then he had to slip again three times through pine – trees roots but this time from the other side. But meanwhile if somebody finds and takes the wolfman’s left clothes then there is no chance for wolfman to become a human being ever.
Wolfmen pine – trees can stand on four, five and more feet or on many open air roots.
Why do these pine-trees grow and form with unusual and large roots above the earth level? It’s known that the pine-trees have the deepest roots – that is the cause those trees are the only ones can grow in white sand dunes as well. The wind can blow away the sand or the dune can transmigrate further in that case leaving the pine-tree with naked roots. The pine-tree survives and keeps standing on own strong and deep roots. With time the naked roots gain thick and strong bark. This is the way the wolfman pine-tree forms.
The highest open air roots has Mazirbes wolfman pine-tree located in Talsu region and in Kolkas parish. The roots are over 2m height and this is a very handy process to turn into a wolfman :)
