Geocache Description:

AVAILABLE DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS ONLY!
An easy “beginner” cache placed for the Frying Pan Farm Park Geocaching Camp, Aug. 30 – Sept. 3, 2010; the cache will remain in place after the camp. The park is open from dawn till dusk; please seek only during park hours. This cache is located along a trail leading north from the meeting house and cemetery. A map of the park and further information can be found at http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/fpp/

In the early 1900’s, agricultural college professors and county school superintendents worked together to establish 4-H Clubs as an educational program for young people to learn farming and homemaking skills. The symbol of a four-leaf clover was chosen, with the 4 H’s standing for Hearts, Hands, Heads, and Health. Farm kids, living in small family farms like the one shown here at Frying Pan Farm Park, often enjoyed having a farm animal of their own to raise and show off at the 4-H Fair!
Today, Frying Pan Farm Park has an active chapter of 4-H, with club members helping to take care of the animals here; if you are interested, take a look at (visit link)

Park in the lot near the model farm and activity center; the road to the meeting house begins just past the 4-H Building. (Alternate, closer parking in lot next to meeting house on Centreville Road.) This medium sized cache, containing a logbook and trade items, is along a mulched trail leading from the NW corner of the old cemetery into the woods toward the creek; be careful not to disturb the archaeological work taking place in the cemetery as you walk through it. The cache is hidden about 25 feet from the trail. Please replace with the top of the container facing up and cover only with light weight camouflage! NO PHOTOS OF THE CONTAINER IN LOGS, PLEASE!

This cache is placed at the request of and with permission from the Fairfax County Park Authority and conforms to all park regulations for the placement of geocaches.

Congratulations to Flydad for FTF!

PLEASE HIDE THE CACHE AFTER YOU FIND IT!!!!
It should not be left uncovered for muggles to grab. If you find it lying out in the open, it is not intended to be like that. Would you make a hand-crafted container and leave it out where it can be seen from 20 feet away? Neither would I.

Geocaching works best when everyone plays the game using common sense and respect for others and their property.
