Geocache Description:

An easy “beginner” cache placed for the Lake Fairfax Geocaching Camp, Aug. 23 – 27, 2010; the cache will remain in place after the camp. The park is open from dawn to dusk; please seek only during park hours!

The cache is along a bicycle and foot trail near the tot lot playground next to the Open Picnic Area. A map of the park is at http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/lakefairfax/downloads/map_lakefairfaxpark.pdf

This cache is named after a community in southern Virginia that we used to pass by on the way to visit our daughter at college!

NOTE: As of summer 2012, the trail has been somewhat re-aligned and widened; it no longer follows the original path that was there when we placed the cache, so the "Tight Squeeze" is a bit off the current trail; be sure to look for it! We have adjusted the coordinates of the cache to allow for the new position.

The trails in Lake Fairfax Park are now planned, built, and maintained by MORE (Mid-Atlantic Off-Road Enthusiasts Inc.)

Take the road from the park entrance to the picnic areas and park near the toddler playground, next to the paved road. Cross the road to the grassy area running alongside the creek, and walk south; the dirt hike and bike trail begins at the corner farthest from the creek and goes uphill. It is just a short walk to the cache!

Be careful to watch for bike riders coming down the hill! This path may be a little slippery at times. The cache is within 15 feet of the trail, on the “uphill” side, and contains a log book and room for some small trade items. Please replace it with some sticks or leaves on top so it will not be visible from the trail.

This cache is placed at the request of and with permission from the Fairfax County Park Authority and conforms to all park regulations for the placement of geocaches.
