Bamfield's Button Lane Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Two Grands:
Sometimes time heals old wounds and sometimes it makes things fall apart. The wounds on the bench could not be healed so the cache has no where to sit for now. Enjoy Key West and Button Lane, in this lovely community, but, sorry - no more caching here right now.

Thanks to all who took the time to visit.

Geocache Description:

This cache has a five star rating because it requires a boat ride to find the cache.

This is the second cache we placed while on a day trip from Port Alberni to Bamfield aboard the M.V. Frances Barkley. Year round this vessel goes to Bamfield three days a week and in the summer months it goes to Ucluelet on alternate days. No motor vehicles can go aboard, but they welcome people, freight of all kinds, canoes, kayaks, bicycles, and so on.

Bamfield is a tiny seaside village on the west coast of Vancouver Island. You can access the east side of Bamfield by road from Port Alberni, or by boat. This west side is only accessible by boat - your boat, your friend's boat, water taxi from the east side, or enjoy the senic 'boat ride' from Port Alberni as we both did.

The M.V. Frances Barkley docks at one end of the boardwalk in Bamfield and the cache you seek is near the other end. This is a stroll that will take you past the Canadian Coast Guard Station, the General Store (good ice cream) and the local Post Office. Many of the local residents have direct access to their gently weather-beaten homes from this boardwalk, with their wharf being just a few steps away. As you stroll, be sure to look for the little mermaid that visits each summer and, this is the only place we have seen that boasts of a second story outhouse with 'view windows'.

Near the end of the boardwalk is an area worth your time to get there. Check out Penny Lane, Button Lane and Key West. A sign post points out many directions to travel and there is a bench to sit and rest at Mussel Beach. As you're resting, please be aware of the extreme muggle factor as you contemplate the cache capture. And please note, you can't sign the tiny, tiny log if you don't have a pen or pencil with you.

Thanks for seeking this cache.....happy caching.

Congratulations to Tugman and Wifey and Team Pawz for their shared FTF.
