An Island Oasis Is Sublime Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

lamoracke: This is no way reflects anything the past finder did so don't worry Phil

I loved when I set up this cache, a custom license plate on my car, GC2935K, custom from the Washington State License folks. The answer to the puzzle was on the license plate and OhJoy and NCBiscuit were first to notice the license plate at GeoWoodstock and raced to get their FTF. That was fun. Car was a sports car and it was too pricey and ostentatious for me. Eventually sold the car and the puzzle lived on, but its not the same so its probably time to move on.

Thanks to all who enjoyed this puzzle, and the car.

Sublime.

Definition of sublime
–adjective
1. elevated or lofty in thought, language, etc.: Paradise Lost is sublime poetry.
2. impressing the mind with a sense of grandeur or power; inspiring awe, veneration, etc.: Switzerland has sublime scenery.
3. supreme or outstanding: a sublime dinner.
4. complete; absolute; utter: sublime stupidity.
-noun
the sublime
a. the realm of things that are sublime: the sublime in art.
b. the quality of sublimity.
c. the greatest or supreme degree.
–verb (used with object)
1. to make higher, nobler, or purer.
2. Chemistry
a.to convert (a solid substance) by heat into a vapor, which on cooling condenses again to solid form, without apparent liquefaction.
b. to cause to be given off by this or some analogous process.
–verb (used without object)
1 Chemistry. to volatilize from the solid state to a gas, and then condense again as a solid without passing through the liquid state.

Famous quotes with the word sublime:
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow: "Lives of great men all remind us We can make our lives sublime, And, departing, leave behind us Footprints on the sands of time."
Napoleon: "There is only one step from the sublime to the ridiculous."
W.S. Gilbert: "My object all sublime I shall achieve in time - To let the punishment fit the crime."
Elbert Hubbard: "The difference in men does not lie in the size of their hands, nor in the perfection of their bodies, but in this one sublime ability of concentration: to throw the weight with the blow, to live an eternity in an hour."
Josh Billings: "When a man gets talking about himself, he seldom fails to be eloquent and often reaches the sublime."
Robert E. Lee: "Duty is the most sublime word in our language. Do your duty in all things. You cannot do more. You should never wish to do less."

The puzzle. There is no math. You simply need to find the 10 digits. I made this puzzle solution pretty much only available for someone to spot randomly at Woodstock and the Lost and Found Event. Now that the FTF has been claimed (they found the sublime object at Woodstock!), its solved much easier. There was a way to solve this initially without going to Woodstock, but it would have been hard to find and taken a little luck and some searching. The answer is out there much easier now. Who knows, maybe you will spot the puzzle solution the same way the FTFers did some random day in the future. You will know when you see it.

When you find the answer, you need to pop in the coordinates 47 AB.CDE 122 FG.HIJ into the geochecker to get the true coordinates. The coordinates you find that you plug into the geochecker will not put you somewhere you want to be to find a cache, most likely. The ones in the geochecker solution page are the ones you want to use to find the cache. Simply find the 10 digit number and put it in the formula above assuming the #s are ABCDEFGHIJ

7/7/2010 congrats to Oh Joy!, NCBiscuit, Mnloon, Maingray, Night-Ranger, Mollymonkey and 3eaglesHigh for their random find FTF with very good observation skills at GeoWoodstock, longer than expected drive for a mystery cache and their quick use of an Iphone. Perhaps one of them can help you spot the item to solve the puzzle but please, no need to email anyone for any information whatsoever. .
