Geocache Description:

A micro cache hidden close to the Herd's Church. This is a fairly high muggle traffic area, stealth is likely to be needed. Can be easily done as a cache and dash.

Christ Church Abingdon was founded in 1961, in a building that is far older. The worship area was originally a tithe barn for Abingdon Abbey, and dates back to the 14th Century.

If you stand at the cache and look towards the Church, to ypur left you will see the 1960's hall and meeting rooms. Next, looking L to R is the Tithe Barn, then the old dairy yard. This was fundctional as a dairy until the 1990's, and was bought by the Church in recent years. The barns and buildings at the right hand side and at the back of the site, are shortly to be redeveloped, to create a community cafe / coffee shop, and some large multipurpose areas.

The site currently hosts over 20 different community groups for meetings of various types, so there is plenty of traffic in and out of the yard, not to mention that to the shops opposite and to the adjacent football ground. So take care, and watch out for muggles!

The cache is not on Church property, and is very slightly smaller than a 35mm film canister.

If anybody would like to expand this series please do, I would just ask that you could let sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication
