The cache is a micro located close to the Barton upon Humber railway terminus.
The Barton branch line opened on 1st March 1849 being an extension from the Cleethorpes to New Holland line opened a year earlier.
In 1998 a rail user group called the Friends of the Barton Line was formed to promote the line and continues to meet on a regular basis.
Trains now run approximately every 2 hours to Grimsby and Cleethorpes.
