The heritage-registered Rowles Lagoon system is the largest freshwater wetland in the eastern Goldfields and is a known habitat for 118 bird species, including at least forty-one species of waterfowl. It comprises four lakes- Rowles Lagoon, Carnage lake, Muddy Lake and Clear Lake – and five smaller unnamed swamps.
