Geocache Description:

This Curacao earchcache focuses on deposits of hard, sedimentary rock which are responsible for several unusual angular hills around the island. Because of their sharper, more pointed form they are known by locals as "male hills." These sedimentary formations are made up of fossils and calcified skeletons of millions of sea organisms mixed with layers of mud, gravel and other sediments. This mixture was compressed and folded together, then thrust up out of the ocean. The result is strikingly beautiful layering, often at sharp angles to their surroundings.

The coordinates to this earthcache are at the 132-meter peak of Veerisberg, one of Curacao’s angular “male” hills. Veerisberg along with Seru Pretu (the hill immediately southeast) and Jack Evertszberg (the hill across the bay southwest) are called the Drie Gebroeders (Three Brothers) by the locals. From the peak of Veerisberg you can also see two bays formed by glaciers during the last ice age. The bay to your northwest is Piscadera Bay while the bay to your southeast is St Anna (inlet bay) and Schottegat (harbor).

To claim this earthcache, identify at least two of the fossils you find in the vicinity of the coordinates of this cache. This could include species of coral, shellfish or any other aquatic life fossilized on Veerisberg. Secondly, measure the angle of the Veerisberg slope relative to the sea. Finally, if you have a camera, take a photo from the peak of Veerisberg or any of the other Drie Gebroeders. E-mail correct answers to me and then feel free to log the cache as FOUND. Please remember to upload the photo you took with your log post. Finally, pay attention to the Additional Waypoints to help you with the trek to this cache.
