Geocache Description:

This is the eighteenth cache of a series of caches called "The Heart Of Oak Series". These caches are named after ships that have connections to the greater Saint John Area, either built here at the Saint John Shipbuilding Yard, or that have ties to areas around Saint John.

This cache is named after a ship that does not have any connections to Saint John, but since I visit here often I thought I would just add to the series.

I was unable to find an extensive information about this ship, but was able to find this small bit of information.

Pendant: K138
Type: Corvette
Class: FLOWER Class 1939-1940
Displacement: 950 tonnes
Length: 205.1 ft
Width: 33.1 ft
Draught: 11.5 ft
Speed: 16 kts
Compliment: 6 Officers and 79 Crew
Arms: 1-4" Gun, 1-2 pdr, 2-20mm, Hedgehog
Builder: Collingwood Shipyards Ltd., Collingwood. Ont.
Keel Laid: 04-Apr-40
Date Launched: 23-Nov-40
Date Commissioned: 12-May-41
Paid off: 26-Jun-45

I placed this cache on Long Island to try to get more people out to this not so hidden gem of the KV, and since it is quite an adventure to Barrie Ontario, I thought I would make this an adventure aswell.
