Der Basaltsee am Farnsberg bei Riedenberg ist ein kleiner See in
einem ehemaligen Basaltbruch.
Die Bezeichnung "Tintenfass" galt dem spitzen Steinküppel, der vor
Beginn des Basaltabbaus an dieser Stelle stand. Dieser Küppel wurde
vollständig abgetragen und ausgehöhlt. Besonders beeindruckend am
Basaltsee sind die noch gut sichtbaren Basaltformationen, die aus
der Zeit des Basaltabbaus hier übrig sind.
The basalt lake at Farnsberg near Riedenberg is a small lake in a
former basalt quarry.
The name "Tintenfass" ("Ink-pot") was valid for the peaked stone
crest which was standing here before the beginning of the basalt
winning at this point. The crest was removed completely and
hollowed out.
Especially impressing at the basalt lake are the still well visible
basalt formations which are left from the time of the basalt
winning here.
Basalt ist ein basisches (SiO2-armes) Ergussgestein. Es besteht vor
allem aus einer Mischung von Eisen- und Magnesium-Silikaten mit
Olivin und Pyroxen sowie calciumreichem Feldspat
(Plagioklas).
Basalt ist das vulkanische Äquivalent zum Gabbro (Plutonit), der
die gleiche chemische Zusammensetzung hat.
Basalt entsteht, wenn dünnflüssiges, kieselsäurearmes Magma an der
Erdoberfläche austritt und relativ schnell zu Basaltlava
erkaltet.
"Basalt" ist der Name für eine ganze Gesteinsgruppe, die in sich
mehrere, zum Teil sehr unterschiedlich zusammengesetzte Gesteine
vereint.
Basalte werden nach ihrer chemischen Zusammensetzung oder nach dem
geologischen Rahmen, in dem sie auftreten, klassifiziert. Kriterien
für diese Unterscheidungen sind zum Beispiel der Gehalt an
Feldspatvertretern (Foide) oder der Olivinanteil.
Basalt is an alkaline outpouring rock (poor in SiO2). It consits
especially of a mixture of iron and magnesium silicates with
olivine and pyroxene as well as feldspar rich in calcium
(Plagioklas).
Basalt is the volcanic equivalent to the gabbro (plutonit) which
has the same chemical composition.
Basalt originates if thin-liquid magma poor in silicic acid resigns
in the earth's surface and cools off relatively fast to basalt
lava.
"Basalt" is the name for a whole rock group which unites several,
partly very differently compound rocks in itself.
Basalt is classified by it chemical composition or by the geologic
edge in which they appear. Criteria for these differentiations are,
for example, the content in feldspar representatives or the amount
of olivine.
