Geocache Description:

Le village de Saints-Geosmes tire son nom des saints Jumeaux Eleusippe, Speusippe et Mélasippe, patrons de la paroisse. Ils auraient été martyrisés au IIème siècle par les Romains. L’église du XIIIème siècle, classée monument historique, autour de laquelle s’est développé le village est d’ailleurs dédiée au culte des Trois-Jumeaux…

La cache « L'église des Saints-Jumeaux » permet de découvrir le village et notamment sa magnifique église. En bonus vous trouverez les indices qui vous conduirons à la cache mystère finale.

Antique lieu de pélerinage et ancien prieuré bénédictin, l'église actuelle date du XIIIe siècle : nef unique, spacieuse, transept saillant, abside à sept pans. L'ensemble est bien éclairé par de hautes fenêtres. En 1763, la nef est raccourcie de deux travées et couverte d'une voûte en bois. L'église comporte également une crypte du IXe siècle.
