Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
You must have logged a Geocache with the two-letter postal abbreviation for all 50 states plus the District of Columbia and 8 US Possessions. 59 Total. D/T rating is for finding all of the required caches.
Please stay on the trails. The cache is at the listed coordinates, but in order to earn your smiley, you must create a bookmark list of finds that have the two-letter postal codes of all US states and possessions. The guidelines used have been modified from the Periodic Table Challenge GC3D9M9. Your list should contain 59 items. There is no restriction on type or date of the finds.
1. Since several letters are not used in GC codes, here are the substitutes:
Number 0 (zero) for the letter O.
Number 1 may be used in place of I.
Use 5 to replace S. American Samoa, AS, would be A5.
V may be used for both V and U.
Use 7 in place of L. (so yes, LA will be 7A).
2. All cache types, past and present, can be used for this challenge.
3. Caches can be located anywhere in the world, there are no proximity restrictions.
4. Each cache can only be used for one state or possession. If the GC is GCTNTX3, you will have to choose which state to use, Texas or Tennessee.
5. The letters must be next to each other, not separated by a number and in the right order.
6. To document your finds to log the cache, there are two choices. Once you have found your 59 caches create a bookmark and in the notes, list the state symbol you are claiming along with the GC code. For example, GCOH33C - OH - Ohio. You may also make a list and post it to the cache page For the lists, include GC#, Cache Name, State Name and Symbol and Date Found.
7. You can sign the log for this challenge at any time and log a 'note' to the cache page, mentioning you signed the log. But you may not log a find until you have completed the requirements (this way you don't have to go back to sign after you complete the requirements!). Once you complete the requirements, edit your log, change it to found, and change the find date to the date you completed the requirements and list the required information.
Have fun learning the postal codes for the US possessions! Look up where they are, too.
