Geocache Description:

This cache is a 35mm film pot placed about 1ft (30 cm) above ground level.

The published co-ordinates are for the site of King Harold's Camp, at the Hoarey Apple Tree, where Harold rallied his forces.

The cache is located a short way south of the camp on the way to the battle site; now the site of Battle Abbey.

If you look at the Terrain View of the Geocaching Map you can see very clearly the long ridge where the battle was fought.

Did you know that it is said that whilst at the camp some of his men grew bored with waiting so they played games.

A popular game then, as now, was I-Spy.

One of the men was heard to say: "I spy with my little eye - something beginning with A."

After several wrong guesses - the clue to guessing the correct word was: "Look up".

OUCH!!!

The cache is located at:
N: start co-ordinate minus 0.175 Minutes.
E: start co-ordinate plus 0.006 Minutes.
