Ce lieu de culte communal, dessiné en 1876 par l'architecte de Moulins (M. Mitton) a été modifié à plusieurs reprises.
L'église saint Pierre est un édifice roman comprenant actuellement une nef de 4 travées, précédée d'un clocher-porche et limité à l'Est par un transept saillant sur lequel s'ouvrent une abside et deux absidioles en hémicycle.
L'association « Montilly Patrimoine » a retrouvé l'acte de propriété sur lequel on peut lire que le monument a été donné à la commune le 20/03/1838 et accepté le 11/08/1841.
Ses cloches se nomment Anne Laurence et Suzanne Joséphine Léonie, refondues pour la dernière fois en 1877.
A l'intérieur le bénitier et l'autel datent de la fin du XII ème siècle.
Avant 1897 le cimetière de la commune se trouvait autour de cette église.

St. Peter's Church is a Romanesque building currently comprising 4 bays of the nave, preceded by a porch and bell-bounded to the east by a transept which opened an apse and two semicircular apses.
The association "Montilly Patrimoine" has found the deeds on which it is stated that the monument was given to the commune on 20/03/1838 and accepted 11/08/1841.
Its bells called Anne Laurence and Suzanne Josephine Leonie, recast for the last time in 1877.
Inside the font and the altar dating from the late twelfth century.
Before 1897 the town's cemetery was located around the Church.
