Geocache Description:

This cache is at the former Morningside Road Station. It is the sister cache to Craiglockhart Station and Colinton Station, and so now it forms a series! You may have guessed the theme by now... .

The cache is not at the above coordinates, but is very close by. The coords do, however, give a nice view of the old station from the old footbridge. It was opened by the Edinburgh Suburban and Southside Junction Railway (ESSJR) on 1 December 1884 as Morningside Station. On 1 March 1885 the ESSJR was incorporated into the North British Railway, and the station was renamed Morningside Road in October 1886.

Morningside Road station closed in 1962, when passenger rail services were withdrawn from the Edinburgh Suburban line by the famous Dr Beeching - the man in charge of cutting over 4000 miles of track in Britain. However, the line is still used for rail freight use, and occasionally diverted passenger trains also pass through Morningside.

The station is located by Morningside Road, where the road bridge crosses the suburban line, and it used to be accessed via a gate on the west side of the road, opposite the Morningside Clock.

Today the station is derelict and the entrance to the station is now occupied by a branch of the Halifax Bank of Scotland. The island platform has been removed although the track formation is still split. ScotRail retains an advertising hoarding on the bridge next to the clock, where they display posters advertising passenger rail services (see if you can spot it).

To find the cache, you will need to solve the following puzzle. The cache is the same size as Craiglockhart Station (so it will be able to house small TBs/GCs), but it is hidden in a very different way; one of its features this time is it's magnetic. Once again, there is a bit of cammo as the final location is rather busy, so just be careful! However, if your stealth is up to scratch, then you shouldn't have too many problems retrieving the cache .

The cache is at:

N 55° AB.CD

W 003° E.FGH where:

A = mega + deci

B = kilo + hecto

C = tera - mega - deca

D = yotta + kilo

E = tera

F = pico + exa

G = centi - micro

H = nano + peta - milli

You can check your answer to this puzzle on Geochecker.com.

Please do NOT give any hints or clues in your log as to where the cache is so everyone can enjoy the puzzle. And remember, the container is the same as the one used in Craiglockhart Station, so remember to push on the lid and then turn . Hope you enjoy the cache!

Update May 2010: There is now another cache to add to the series, so instead of having lots of 'Updates(!!)', I have now got a list:
The caches in the series so far are...

1) GC1G8T1 - Colinton Station
2) GC1P6GQ - Craiglockhart Station
3) GC26VF7 - Morningside Road Station
4) GC28PJ7 - Hailes Platform Station
