Part of a series along the A590 - see bookmark list. This
is very much a drive-by and the layby can suffer from litter,
however, I really like the view across the large sweeping bend in
the river/estuary towards Lady Syke, Ellerside, and Backbarrow
gorge. I quite often stop in this layby for a quick break and
to admire the view. Sometimes the channel is very full of
water on a big tide. Other times the sun is dancing acorss
the wooded hills and reflecting off the channels, while various
birds look for food in the mud banks. As spring advances the
woods leap into colour and change again in the autumn.
Whatever the season or the weather, the view is always worth a
look. It is possible to stretch the legs via a stile onto the
shore bank.
The cache is the usual type of nano after a creative hide failed
to survive. Be gentle removing the log and you will need a
pen. You don't need to scuffle about in any rubbish.
Enjoy the view. For a higher vantage point, check out nearby
Greenodd View.
