Geocache Description:

Mikrokätkö Pirkkalan golfkentän tuntumassa, ykkösväylän takana.

Golf = pallopeli, jonka tavoitteena on saada pieni, halkaisijaltaan noin neljän senttimetrin pallo mahdollisimman vähillä lyönneillä avauslyöntipaikalta reikään.

Golf Pirkkala = 18-reikäinen golfkenttä perushämäläisessä metsämaisemassa. Kentän oheispalveluina löytyy golfkoulu, ravintola, golftarvikemyymälä sekä sauna ja pukutilat.

Par = lyöntimäärä, jolla taitavan pelaajan tulisi kyetä pelaamaan tietty reikä tai kenttä hyvissä olosuhteissa. Reiän par määräytyy sen pituuden mukaan.

Birdie = yksi lyönti alle par'in pelattu reikä. Kerrotaan, että yhdysvaltalainen golfkenttäarkkitehti ja kolumnisti Albert Warren Tillinghast olisi ensimmäisenä ottanut termin käyttöön vuonna 1899.

This is a traditional micro cache in Pirkkala near a golf course.

Golf = is a precision club-and-ball sport, in which competing players, using many types of clubs, attempt to hit balls into each hole on a golf course while employing the fewest number of strokes.

Golf Pirkkala = golf course with 18 holes in typical mid finnish forest scenery. Has the following services: golf school, restaurant, golf shop, sauna and changing room.

Par = standard score for a hole (defined by its length).

Birdie = a hole played in one stroke under par.
In American slang of the 19th Century, the term "bird" was applied to anything particularly great. "Bird" was the "cool" of the 1800s in the U.S. So on the golf course, a great shot - one that led to an under-par score - came to be known as a "bird," which was then transformed into "birdie." The term birdie was in worldwide use by the 1910s, and it's believed it debuted in the U.S. in 1899.
