Slepnis izvietots Valdemarpili, pilseta, kura nosaukta par godu Krišjanim Valdemaram, kas šaja pilseta macijies un stradajis. Jaatzime, ka ši ir vieniga pilseta Latvija, kas nosaukta kada cilveka varda.
Slepna konteineris izvietots pie Sasmakas pils un Baltijas lielakas liepas – Elku liepas.
Krisjanis Valdemars (1821-1891) was the main ideologist of the Young Latvians movement (intellectuals of the first Latvian National Awakening, active from the 1850s to the 1880), writer, educator and politician.
There are several reasons to consider Krisjanis Valdemars the most significant Latvian of the 19th century. He is widely known for the fact that during his studies in the Tartu University he put a plaque on the door of his room “Krisjanis Valdemars, Latvian”, an unheard act at the time when educated Latvians liked to pretend to be of either German or Russian origin. It was Valdemars and his circle of friends which included fellow students Krisjanis Barons and Fricis Brivzemnieks the Young Latvians Movement originated. Krisjanis Valdemars is also notable as the founder of the first Latvian marine school in Ainazi, the founder of the first sailors' union in Russia, the editor of revolutionary newspaper “Peterburgas avizes” and collector of Latvian traditional poems dainas (his work was later continued and finished by Krisjanis Barons).
The cache is hidden in Valdemarpils, the city that got its name from Krisjanis Valdemars who lived and worked here in the days of his youth. This is the only city in Latvia that got its name from a person.
The cache container is hidden near the Sasmaka manor house and the biggest lime-tree in the Baltic states, the Idol lime.
