Obrigado

Geocache Description:

Dream

Lighthouse
I
n the village of Almenara, near the sea shore, lived a man named Certimus. He was the lighthouse keeper and loved the sea so much that always dreamt to have his ashes scattered there. He wanted to be part of that large body of salted water, that he could see from his lighthouse window.

He once met a beautiful girl named Agatha, whom had the same dream. They married and went to live in the lighthouse. One night they both had an unusual dream. In this dream they met the Lord of the Dreams and he conceived them a wish. They turned in two rivers that merged into the sea, near the place where the lighthouse stood.

Then I will give you a dream, Certimus.
Everything changes, but nothing is truly lost.
The years passed by and Certimus and Agatha had a son, another river that they named Vacua. The river Vacua grew larger and larger and forced the sea to go West, quite far from his parents.

Certimus and Agatha got sad and to have a sight similar to a sea, they merged together again and decided to have a daughter. A kindly and quiet lagoon was born and they named her in honor of the wild ducks that used to stop by to enjoy a rest during migration. Her name is Pateira.

The lighthouse lost its purpose and part of its stones were used to build a stone bridge over the river Certimus and another part to sustain an iron bridge for the new train branch, crossing over the river Agatha.
No one ever saw the lighthouse keeper and his beautiful wife, again.
In the small village of Almenara, no one ever saw the lighthouse keeper and his beautiful wife, again. Or, they thought they didn't! No bodies were ever found and the loneliness of the landscape may have lent itself to feverish imaginings.
Sandman
N
owadays the rivers Cértima, Águeda and Vouga share almost the same environment with the Pateira, near Almear where the sea once had shores and where existed a lighthouse.

"I stand amid the roar
Of the surf tormented shore

All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream
"

B
e aware of passing vehicles. They are not from my realm... Are not dream creatures. They are real!

When you hear a horn, don't think that is the ghost of the long gone lighthouse... Get out of the way!!!

Don't stay for long! 'Cause the dreams, as well as life, are ephemeral...

And don't forget to take something to register your dreams!!

D
ream is a fictional character from the DC/Vertigo comic book series Sandman, and it was created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg. The story herein was partly ispired by the mysterious disappearance of the three keepers of the Flannan Isles (Scotland) lighthouse in December, 1900.

The images of Dream herewith were drawn by Shawn McManus, Jon J. Muth and Kent Williams for the books "Fables & Reflections", "The Wake" and "The Sandman: King of Dreams". The lighthouse was drawn by Christophe Chabouté for the book "Tout Seul" and the landscape by Milo Manara was taken from the book "Rever, Peut-être".

The closing lyrics are from the song "Dream Within A Dream" by Propaganda.
