Geocache Description:

St Marys Chapel

St Marys Westley was built in 1836 and is claimed to be the oldest concrete church in England.

St Mary's was built to replace the church of St Thomas of Canterbury also located in the village of Westley. St Thomas was badly damaged when the spire collapsed in 1744 and was abandoned, the ruins can still be seen today.

THE CACHE IS LOCATED ON THE PUBLIC FOOTPATH

PLEASE DO NOT USE THE CAR PARK LOCATED NEXT TO THE FOOTPATH (THAT RUNS ALONG SIDE THE CHURCH LAND) I HAVE BEEN ADVISED THAT THIS IS PRIVATE PROPERTY

If anybody would like to expand the Church Micro series please do, we would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names, to avoid duplication.
