Geocache Description:

As the name says this is the first cache of Santa Maria. We placed it there during our relaxing vacation there. Hopefully future geocachers there will keep it in good shape!

Santa Maria is a nice village located in the southern coast of Sal Island. It is constantly growing and developing tourist resort. Tourism and fishing are main sources of income for local people. The southern part of Sal Island was missing a cache before. That's why we wanted to give something to seek and find for Santa Maria visitors. The cache is on the western part of village. You can't avoid to see kilometers of white beautiful sand, cyan blue water and lots of windsurfers when you hike to the cache site. Beware of many pieces of broken glass!
The old lighthouse is now very near to callapse, be extra careful when searching the cache!!! Do approach at your own risk!!! Don't let children go near the structure!
