Mit diesem Cache möchte ich Euch an die Stätte bringen, die dieser Großstadt ihren Namen gegeben hat.
Die Entstehung des Salzes
Bereits vor rund 120 Millionen Jahren bildeten sich an mehreren Stellen des heutigen Salzgitters unterirdische Salzstöcke. Das geringe spezifische Gewicht des Salzes sorgte dafür, dass die Salzstöcke durch alle anderen Erd- und Gesteinsschichten bis zum Erdboden aufstiegen Bereits vor mehr als 1000 Jahren stellten die Bauern fest, dass ihre Tiere, die sich im warmen, salzhaltigen Sumpf rekelten, anschließend weiß waren.
Um 1050 n.Chr. wurde der Name „Salzgau“ überliefert. Noch bis 1925 wurde in Salzgitter Salz im großen Stil abgebaut. Selbst heute noch wird für das Thermalsolebad die Sole gefördert. Quelle und weitere Informationen: Städtisches Museum im Schloss Salder. Der Eintritt ist kostenlos.
Aufgabe: Die Koordinate führt Dich zum Gradierwerk nebst Hinweistafel. Wenige Meter daneben steht noch ein alter Holzbohrturm mit einer weiteren Hinweistafel.
Keine Logbedingung mehr, aber bei einem EC wohl Ehrensache: Mache ein Foto von Dir und/oder Deinem GPS-Gerät vor dem Holzbohrturm und lade es mit Deinem Log hoch.
Welche Meterzahl (Schnapszahl) steht auf der Hinweistafel? Inzwischen stehen dort 2 Schilder, nach dem Neueren ist die Bohnung noch 2m tiefer. Beide Werte werden natürlich anerkannt.

Nachtrag, da es scheinbar nicht selbstverständlich ist: Logs ohne eine entsprechende zeitnah geschickte Mail, aus der der Cachername hervor geht, werden kommentarlos gelöscht.
