signyred: Visit as passing and no sign of any cache but lots of evidence / litter that the area is a hang out spot for local youths so, as it's 209 miles from home decided to let it go at last.

Geocache Description:


A simple cache at an easy to reach and usually deserted railway station - a great place to break a long journey from the Midlands ti the Highlands. The cache is now a 35mm film pot (I think) at top of steps down to public footpath that runs under the main tracks at Gretna Green station. You have to get over the railings to access the area near a wooden fence so I'm not sure ladies in wedding dresses would be able to find this one without getting things snagged or dirty so it's best not done just before you get hitched! A HUGE THANK YOU TO "Mo and Mike" AND TO "Dipton2016" FOR THEIR HELP IN KEEPING THIS CACHE GOING WHEN THE CONTAINER WENT MISSING IN JUNE 2018. AND "Pink icing" JUST @ MONTHS LATER WHEN IT DISAPPEARED AGAIN. During COVID the cache appears to have lost its top and had to be disabled but thanks to the help of "Sue&Ian" it should now be OK again - hopefully for some time. MANY THANKS WHITE KNIGHTS OF GEOCACHING ALL!!!
