Cyrus S. Tucker was born in 1841 and lived in Norway, Maine. Before the Civil War he was an apprentice in his father's harness-making business. At the age of 20 he volunteered to be in the Civil War, served with the 17th Maine Regiment as a Brigade Saddler, and was present at several major battles, including those at Fredericksburg, Gettysburg, and Wilderness.
When he returned from the war, he bought his father's harness-making business and settled in downtown Norway. He helped build a bank and was the Town Treasurer of Norway from 1881 to 1886. He died in 1899 and is buried in the Norway Pine Grove Cemetery.
