Geocache Description:

A large micro hidden in California Hill State Forest less than 0.2 miles from the parking area.

In 2007 three different protected areas were merged into a single unit, the California Hill State Forest. We've wondered for a while what is out here and finally had the opportunity to explore and place some caches. Much of the area shows signs of human intrusion, yet the forest has some beautiful topography and large areas that are unspoiled or at least not recently spoiled.

There are no marked trails in the state forest but there are a number of woods roads/trails that show evidence of prior heavy use. While these do not generally run straight, we found that it was not difficult to find a combination of roads/trails that would take us in the direction we wanted to go.

This cache is located close to a trail and the pond at the end of a stone wall. Please, please, please, do not move any stones in searching for this cache. It should not be difficult to find as the location is truly obvious. The container is a well camouflaged small nalgene "pill" bottle picked up from a recent BrianB (thanks Brian) cache that is hidden from plain sight -- but only just barely. You will need to bend down and peer in, but that's about all. The container currently holds only the log and some golf pencils (but BYOP to be on the safe side) and is too small for most swag.

The state forest is heavily used during hunting season . We recommend that you do not attempt to find this cache during deer hunting season.
