About one hundred volcanoes with 300 craters show you the face of the island of Lanzarote.The last eruptions on the island happened in the year 1824, but there is still volcanic activity on Lanzarote today.
Between 1730 and 1736 were the worst eruptions on the island.Eleven villages were destroyed by the lava.
About 25 percent of the island has been buried and transformed to that bizarre moonscape.
The "Montanas del Fuego" were formed.Here you come to the about 50 square kilometer large National Parc Timanfaya.In all colours glare the volcanoes.
They give you a marvelous optic.
A special feature is the "Caldera Blanca" , situated outside the National Park.To this pace the Earthcache takes you.The place is accessible to you all time without restriction.
With his white crust the caldera stands in contrast to the "Montanas del Fuego" with his black,red and ocher coloured hills and volcanoes.The "Caldera Blanca" is with a diameter of about 1000 meters one if the biggest on Lanzarote.
A caldera is formed by explosive eruption or by collapse of magma chambers near the earth surface of a central volcano,which is evacuated before (e.g. the magma has left the underground chamber).
The "Caldera Blanca" belongs to the so-called "Old volcanoes" on Lanzarote,that means the caldera was formed in a time before the younger volcanoes erupted.
The Lava of the youngest eruption has flow around the Caldera ,similar like the Montana Caldereta in the neighborhood.
Like a white island in a sea of black lava rise the "Caldera Blanca" up to the sky.
From the parking coordinates nearby ( N 29 2.631 - W 013 41.915 ) at Mancha Blanca you walk on a little pathway to the edge of this marvelous caldera.Come and enjoy this beautiful view over the island of lanzarote.

Eine Besonderheit bildet jedoch die ausserhalb des Nationalparks gelegene Caldera Blanca.
Hierhin führt uns der Earthcache.
Mit ihren weißen Kalkkrusten hebt sich die Caldera Blanca deutlich von den schwarz, rot und ocker gefärbten Feuerbergen ab. Die Caldera ist mit einem Durchmesser von einem Kilometer eine der größten ihrer Art auf Lanzarote.
Calderen entstehen entweder durch explosive Eruptionen oder durch den Einsturz oberflächennaher Magmakammern eines Zentralvulkans, die zuvor durch Ausbrüche entleert worden sind.
Die Caldera Blanca zählt zu den Altvulkanen auf Lanzarote, sie stammt also aus der Zeit vor den jüngsten Ausbrüchen
Sie wurde ebenso wie die benachbarte Montana Caldereta von den Lavamassen er letzten Eruptionen umflossen.
Wie eine weiße Insel in einem Meer von schwarzer Lava ragt die Caldera Blanca in den Himmel.
Von den Parkkoordinaten bei ( N 29 2.631 - W 013 41.915 ) führt ein kleiner Pfad zum Rand dieser herrlichen Caldera.Gehe den Weg und erfreue dich an der tollen Aussicht.

3. Um welche Art von Caldera handelt es sich bei der "Caldera Blanca"?
4. (Optional) Mach ein Bild von dir mit GPS an einer beliebigen Stelle auf dem Rand der Caldera Blanca mit dem Zentrum der Caldera im Hintergrund und poste es mit dem Log!
5. (Optional) Mach ein Bild in der Nähe der Listingkoordinaten und poste es mit dem Log!
