in Berührung.
Dieser Earth-Cache führt euch ins obere Albtal zwischen Bad
Herrenalb und Gaistal – ins Landschaftsschutzgebiet
„Albtal mit Seitentälern“.
Beginnend am Albursprung oberhalb von Bad Herrenalb bis hinab nach
Ettlingen erstreckt sich das Tal der Alb, die sich zusammen mit
ihren Zuflüssen tief in das Buntsandsteingebirge eingeschnitten
hat.
Bad Herrenalb hat über 60 Quellen, sowohl warme als auch kalte.
Sie sind Lebensräume mit besonderen Eigenschaften.
Dieser Cache beschäftigt sich mit den kalten Quellen.
Austretendes Grundwasser hat im Sommer wie im Winter eine
gleichbleibende Temperatur von ca. 6° - 8° C. Daher weisen auch die
Quellen weitgehend konstante Wassertemperaturen auf, unabhängig von
den tages- und jahreszeitlichen Schwankungen. Im Winter stellen sie
sozusagen eine Wärmeinsel dar, die selbst bei strengem Frost kaum
jemals zufriert. Im Sommer dagegen sind Quellen relativ kühl.
Quellen sind natürliche Grundwasseraustritte an die Erdoberfläche.
Aber keine gleicht der anderen. Viele verschiedene Faktoren
beeinflussen die Lebensbedingungen einer Quelle: geographische
Lage, Ausrichtung (Exposition), Lichtverhältnisse,
Schüttungsmenge.
Am häufigsten werden Quellen nach der Austrittsform des Wassers
unterschieden.
Der Weg über 3,5 km (ohne Rückweg) führt euch entlang des
Quellenerlebnispfades, im Rahmen dessen ihr allerlei Wissenswertes
zum Thema Wasser, Quellen und Erd-/Bodenbeschaffenheit erkunden
könnt. Der Quellenerlebnispfad endet in der Nähe der Plotzsägmühle
und ist für Familien mit Kindern besonders zu empfehlen.

Der Gesteinsuntergrund ist entscheidend für das Auftreten von
Quellen. Granit ist ein im Erdaltertum entstandenes Gestein. Dieser
Granit bildet auch einen der Herrenalber Quellhorizonte, an dem,
entlang der wasserstauenden Schicht, die Quellen regelrecht in Reih
und Glied austreten.

This Earth Cache leads you to the upper Albtal between Bad
Herrenalb and Gaistal – a landscape protection area known as
the Albtal with connecting valleys.
Beginning at the source of the Alb slightly above Bad Herrenalb,
the valley of the Alb reaches right down to the town of
Ettlingen.
Over time the Alb and its many branches have cut deeply into the
soil of red sandstone.
Bad Herrenalb has a total of over 60 hot and cold springs. These
sources are special natural habitats.
This cache will concentrate on the cold water springs.
The surfacing ground water has a constant temperature of about 6°C
to 8°C regardless of the day-temporal and seasonal variations. In
winter, even with severe frost, the water hardly ever freezes as it
maintains its relatively warm temperature. In summer, however, the
springs are relatively cool.
Springs are natural ground water escapes to the surface of the
earth. But no two are the same. Many different factors influence
the living conditions of a spring: geographic position, adjustment
(exposition), lighting conditions, capacity.
In general the springs are distinguished by the type of water
emission.
The path of 3,5km length (one way) leads you along the
“Quellerlebnispfad”, an experience trail, giving you
the opportunity to learn a lot about water, springs and earth and
ground conditions.The „Quellenerlebnispfad“ ends near
„Plotzsägmühle“ and is especially recommended for
families with children.

The rocky underground is crucial for the emergence of sources.
Granite is a rock formed in the Palaeozic period. This granite also
represents one of Bad Herrenalb’s source horizons, at which,
alongside the water-damming layer of rock, the springs
emerge.
