Kyrkovanding #71 - Skallsjö kyrka
Floda kommun

Skallsjö kyrka, eller kanske Skallsjö "nya" kyrka, blev klar 1863 och man övergav då den gamla 1200-talskyrkan, numera benämnd Skallsjö kyrkoruin, till förmån för denna nya som låg närmare centralorten, vilken på denna tid var Tollered, och var betydligt större än den gamla kyrkan. Flera detaljer från den gamla kyrkan såsom kyrkklockor, vissa gravstenar och flertalet dekorationer flyttades med till den nya. Klocktornet på kyrkan byggdes under 2010-2011 om då det gamla tornet var i så dåligt skick att det tidvis har bedömts varit risk för att det skulle rasa. Tornet har renoverats tidigare i historien men denna gång räckte det inte med renovering.

Kyrkan attackerades år 2000 av den så kallade "Flodapyromanen" men olika omständigheter tog udden av attentatet och brandkåren var snabbt på plats med följd att skadorna blev ytterst minimala.

Skallsjö church, or maybe Skallsjö "new" church, was completed in 1863 and the old church from the 13th century was abandoned for the new one which was sited closer to the central village, at this time Tollered, and was considerably larger than the old church. Several items were moved from the old church to the new one such as the church bells, some tombstones and several decorations. The bell tower of the church was rebuilt during 2010-2011 due to its condition which was considered to be so poor that there was risk for it to collapse. The tower has been repaired earlier in history but this time a repair was not enough.

The church was attacked in year 2000 by the "Floda pyromaniac" but different circumstances blunted the effect of the deed and the fire department was quickly on site so the damages became very slight.
