Kiilopäätä ympäröivät metsät ovat enimmäkseen karuja mäntymetsiä,
jotka ovatkin tälle korkeudelle tyypillisiä. Mäntymetsien
yläpuolella on vielä kapea tunturikoivuvyöhyke ennen paljakkaa ja
mäntymetsien alapuolella on yleensä kuusikkoa.
Joulukuusi on wikipedian mukaan ollut Virossa käytössä jo
1400-luvulla. Suomeen perinne saapui 1800-luvulla, ensin
säätyläiskoteihin. Perinne yleistyi Suomessa 1900-luvun alussa.
Nykyään joulukuusen arvellaan koristavan Suomessa noin miljoonaa
kotia joka joulu. 1990-luvulta alkaen joulukuusia on ryhdytty myös
erikseen kasvattamaan ja jopa tuomaan tuontitavarana, esimerkiksi
Tanskasta. Monien mielestä paras joulukuusi on tuuheaoksainen ja
symmetrinen.
Kätkön vierestä kulkee yleensä hiihtämällä tehty latu, jota
pitkin kätkölle voi hiihtää. Jos latua ei ole, suosittelen talvella
lumikenkien käyttöä. Kätkörasia on ruskea muovirasia ja sen
saaminen käsiin vaatiin jonkin verran ulottuvuutta. Hangen
korkeudesta riippuen maaston luokitus voi vaihdella hieman.
HUOM! Etsithän kätköä hellävaraisesti, että piilopaikka pysyy
kunnossa.
Huomaa myös, että kätkö sijaitsee Urho Kekkosen kansallispuiston
alueella, joten sinun tulee huomioida kansallispuiston säännöt

In Finland Christmas tree is practically always a spruce tree. Even
the word 'christmas tree' translates into Finnish as 'christmas
spruce'. Many say that the best christmas tree has a dense foliage
and it is symmetric from the shape.
The forests around Kiilopää are mostly dominated by pines.
Further up the mountain the pines are replaced by low growing
birches. Spruce forests dominate down in the valleys.
Christmas tree tradition is over 100 years old in Finland and it
is estimated that today roughly one million homes are decorated
with a christmas tree every year. Nowadays christmas trees are also
commercially grown and even imported to Finland, from Denmark for
example.
Usually a skiing track goes by this cache but snow shoes are
recommended when there is no track due to heavy snowfall for
example. The container is a brown plastic box and to get it you
need to reach out. Depending on the snow pack the terrain rating
might vary in the course of the year.
NOTE: Please be careful when you search for the cache to keep
the hide intact.
Please note also, that the cache is within Urho Kekkonen national
park and you should take notice of the rules of the park. For
example open fires and camping are only allowed at parts of the

En Finlande, l´arbre de Noël est un épicea. Même le nom en finnois
« arbre de Noël » le mentionne : épicea de Noël. Un bon sapin de
Noël est bien fourni et symétrique.
Les fôrets autour de Kiilopää sont surtout dominées par les pins.
Plus haut sur les monts les pins sont petits à petit remplacés par
des bouleaus.Les fôrest d´épicea sont dominantes en bas dans les
vallées.
En Finlande, l´arbre de Noël est une tradition qui datent d´un
centaine d´année et qui décorent environ un million de maisons
chaque année.De nos jours, les arbres de Noël sont cultivés et même
importés du Danemark ou Allemagne.
Habituellement il y a une piste de ski de fond qui passe vers la
cache mais les raquettes peuvent être recommandés quand il n´y a
pas de pistes tracées à cause des chutes neiges.La cache est une
boite plastique marron et vous avez d´avoir le bras long pour
l´attraper.Suivant la profondeur de neige, le terrain peut être
plus ou moins difficile.
Note: Attention de garder intact le lieu de camouflage quand vous
recherchez cette cache.
