This unnamed point, which is reached from Prickly Pear Flat, sits
above the confluence of Pine Canyon and Calf Canyon. The hike
starts at a wooden barricade across the road on Prickly Pear Flat,
but getting there from the graded road on Big Flat will require a
high-clearance 4WD vehicle, ATV, motorcycle, bicycle, or sturdy
boots. There are a couple of really ugly spots along the road. Some
routefinding will be required during the hike, but any route you
choose will have great scenery along the way.
The cache is right out on the end of the point, though not too
close to the edge. It's hidden under a pile of rocks under the edge
of a knee-high pinyon pine. The view down into Pine and Calf
canyons is amazing and well worth the hike.
