Geocache Description:

A simple short two-part multi at another of the Dr Who filming locations - and a chance to learn a bit of history at the same time.

In the closing scenes of the episode "Waters of Mars", The Doctor has saved Adelaide Brooke (played by Lindsay Duncan) from certain death in the explosion on Bowie Base 1, and returned her to her home. We see Captain Brooke going into her house (No 10 Victoria Place was used). But we know that her death was pre-ordained, and she knows it too. The Doctor has acted arrogantly in saving her, and his interference may have far-reaching effects.

But seconds after she goes into the house we hear a shot and see a muzzle-flash through the window and we know that Captain Brooke has shot herself rather than risk the possible impact of the changed history resulting from her survival. The Doctor looks down the road towards the church (the former Victoria Road United Reformed Church - a Grade II listed building) and sees Ood Sigma looking at him disapprovingly. He realises the enormity of his error and says "I've gone too far".

(Ever mindful of the need for economy, three years later the BBC used the same house for the exterior of Madame Vastra's London home in the episode: "The Crimson Horror".)

The cache is not at the above co-ordinates. But the co-ordinates will take you to an unusual artefact that local children refer to as the Tardis. Look for the Newport Civic Society plaque behind it and make a note of the date the artefact was first brought into service (ABCD) and the input to it (EFGH)

The cache can be found at

N51 35.(G+H)(2*E)(D-A)
W 002 59.(B-A)(C-E)(D+E)

This is a busy area, and some stealth will be required to retrieve and replace the cache without being seen.

This is one of a series of caches based on locations used for filming Doctor Who, be it the filming the latest series or any of the earlier ones. If you're near such a location and want to add to the series, just let Pezzini know so she can keep the numbers without duplicates and please keep to the naming convention of starting the series with "Who Was Here: ".
