Geocache Description:

A la limite de la frontière territoriale ouest avec la commune de Cassagne, on peut découvrir les vestiges de cet ancien moulin à vent, installé sur une hauteur boisée ouverte vers la magnifique vallée du Bas-Salat.
Nous avons rencontré son propriétaire, qui projette sa restauration et nous a parlé de son histoire :
Mentionné dès 1660 sur la matrice cadastrale de Belbèze-en Comminges, ce monument faisait partie de la meunerie locale aux XVIIIe et XIXe siècles.
Il est situé dans le lieu-dit « Les Moulis », ce qui pourrait être une faute de transcription de part du personnel du cadastre, due à la prononciation. En effet, il n’y a jamais eu qu’un moulin dans ce quartier ; de plus, « le moulin » se prononçait « lé mouli » en gascon. D’où la thèse de la transcription erronée dont le propriétaire nous a parlé.

Deux bancs vous attendent près du moulin. Vous pourrez admirer la vue, bien assis !

At the limit of the western territorial border with the town of Cassagne, you will discover the remains of this old windmill, located on a wooded hill open to the beautiful valley of the Lower Salat, about 400m high.
We met the owner who contemplates restoring it and told us about his history:
Mentioned as soon as 1660 on the cadastre of Belbèze-in Comminges, this monument was part of the local mills in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
It is located in a place called “Les Moulis”, which could be a fault of transcription by the staff of the cadastre, due to pronunciation. Indeed, there has always been one single mill in this neighborhood, and besides, "le moulin" was pronounced "lé mouli" in Gascon. Hence the thesis of the error in transcription that the owner told us about.

Two benches await you near the mill. You will be able to admire the view, well seated!
