HIGH RISK, STEEP CLIFFS, HIGH OVERHANGS, FALLING ROCK ZONE, FAST
WATER , CAUTION ADULTS ONLY. ** IF THE SIREN GOES OFF WHEN YOU'RE
DOWN IN THE GORGE, THE DAM GATES ARE ABOUT TO OPEN AND FLOOD THE
AREA. GET OUT IMMEDIATELY **
The Coords will take you to where my Garmin started losing
satellites and bouncing my position over the river. From there the
target can be seen. Getting there is another matter.
My buddy Aoxoa_73 wanted to place this cache here after he had been
here with his kids (they, however, were not as thrilled with the
place). What the place is, is a cave near the base of the falls.
There is no GPS reception in the cave of course and reception is
spotty along the gorge. The cache is located in the back of the
cave on the left side about thirty feet from the center of the pit
in the back.
Note: You will above all want at least two things when you go for
this cache: A good pair of hiking boots and a poncho for the water
spray. ADDITION: ttomw reminds that a flashlight (or several) might
be necessary once inside the cave. A camera to capture the view and
surroundings would be a good idea as well.
The footing here is treacherous, stick to the gravel rather than
the rocks, which tend to be slimy. the up and down can be a bit
treacherous as well, so take your time. Best parking is in the
Maplewood Rose Garden.
