[LV] Šis piemineklis atzime vietu, no kuras 1944. gada 13 oktobri saka savu ezera forsešanu generala Romanovska 67. armija, viena no pieciem, kuras istenoja Rigas atbrivošanas operaciju (en.wiki.org). Generala Ferdinanda Šernera speki izvelejas pretinieka rinki nepaliekt un Rigu atstaja, un, uzspridzinot pa celam tiltus, sasnidza Kurzemi, vietu, kuru talak tiks saukta par Kurzemes katlu. Pateicoties šadiem manevriem, Rigai ka svarigas nozimes pilsetai izdevas izvairities no Volgograda liktena (sk. Kauja par Stalingradu) un palikt neizpostitai.

[EN] This monument denotes the place, where in October 13th of year 1944, army of general Romanovsky forced lake of Kišezers, as a part of Riga Offensive (en.wiki.org). General Colonel Schörner was ultimately forced to retreat due west, to Courland, a place which later held Couland Pocket. These tactical movings ensured that such an important city as Riga remained almost intact, and didn't repeat the fate os Volgograd (see Battle of Stalingrad).
