Geocache Description:

This is the second in an occasional series of caches in picturesque spots near to ponds, the first being Normandy Pond. The co-ordinates given are for the pond: you will have to solve a puzzle to find the cache.

Tarn Pond at Cutmill is a part of Puttenham Common which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). It is managed by the Surrey Wildlife Trust, and they have granted permission to place this cache here.

Tarn Pond itself is used by the Farnham Angling Society and is one of the best known carp waters in the South of England. Please don't disrupt the fishermen while searching for the cache: it is not near the edge of the pond so there is no need to search there.

The good news for those of you who have been driven half mad by some of my previous puzzles, is that this one should be more straightforward. As with the last puzzle, animals are again involved. They do occur multiply this time, and some are more obvious than others, but I can assure you that none of them is a bobcat!

I'd like to thank my daughter Emma for help with the puzzle and the cache placement, even though in one respect she happened to be quite negative.

I have included a picture which I've called "Animal-vegetable-mineral". The puzzle clue is a word that links the three components of this picture. It's easiest if you first identify the "animal" (she is a singer). If you can identify the "vegetable" and/or "mineral" you will find that the word will also fit them.

You don't have to use the picture to solve the puzzle. It's certainly possible to do it using only a few of the clues I've given. In fact you could do it using just the cache title, but I'd be very impressed if you do.

For the co-ordinates you can assume N51 and W0. You just need to calculate the minutes (so divide the puzzle answers by a thousand)

Northing: Thank - map + mad/2
Westing: Panda + man - yak

You can check your answers for this puzzle on Geochecker.com.

The cache is a 600ml clip top container, and so is large enough for most travel bugs and geocoins. The co-ordinates may be a little out because of the tree cover, but you should find it easily with the hint. Please don't leave any spoilers in your log and have fun.
