Pont de Gannay
Ce pont est le seul pont sur La Loire entre Decize et Bourbon-Lancy
(quelques 40 km) et alors, il est de grand intérêt local.
Un pont était déjà construit avant-guerre mais il était détruit par
les Allemands pour essayer d'arrêter les Alliées. Après-guerre le
pont était réparé et c'est ce pont qui est encore sur place.
Le niveau d'eau et le courant peuvent rendre la cache inaccessible.
Si c'est le cas, ne prenez pas de risque mais revenez un autre
jour!
This is the only bridge across the Loire between Decize and
Bourbon-Lancy (some 25 miles apart) and therefore it is of great
local importance.
A bridge had already been constructed before WWII but this was
destroyed by the Germans to try and stop the Allied advance.
Immediately after WWII the bridge was repaired and this is still
the current bridge.
The water level and the currents may make the cache inaccessible.
If this is the case, don't take any risks but come back another
day!
