Une cache « drive-in » qui vous fera découvrir un pont gallo-romain, curieux vestige d’un temps passé au milieu des temps modernes !
Des études laissent supposer aujourd’hui que notre Volvestre pourrait représenter un "pagus" (pays) carolingien et même, plus haut dans le temps, un "fundus" Gallo-Romain (grosse exploitation rurale).
La présence de ce pont Gallo-Romain, appelé dans les textes anciens "Pont de Tersac", connu aujourd'hui sous le nom de "Pont du Diable" qui franchissait le Volp sur une route importante reliant Montesquieu à Cazères et Palaminy plaide en faveur de cette hypothèse.

A "cache and dash" that will make you discover a Gallo-Roman bridge, a weird remnant of a bygone age right in the middle of modern times!
Studies now suggest that our Volvestre could represent a Carolingian "pagus" (country) and even earlier in time, a Gallo-Roman "fundus" (huge farm).
The presence of this Gallo-Roman bridge, called "Tersac Bridge” in ancient texts, now known as the"Devil's Bridge", that crossed the Volp on a major highway linking Montesquieu and Cazères Palaminy tends to confirm this hypothesis.
