Z historie veznice:
Mesto Trutnov melo stejne jako ostatni stredoveka mesta svoji satlavu. Na konci 18. stoleti dochazelo k utekum veznu, kteri vyuzivali spatneho stavu stareho vezeni a ven se napriklad vylamovali. V roce 1772 se vylamali z veznice tri k smrti odsouzeni falsovaci minci, kterym byl cestou milosti zmenen trest na desetilety zalar.
Nasledne zacala mestska rada jednat s krajskym uradem o stavbe nove veznice. K temto jednanim doslo v letech 1797-1799. Resily se hlavne financni otazky a umisteni objektu. Roku 1798 mesto oznamilo, ze zacne se stavbou, ale pozar Trutnova v roce 1799 to oddalil. Obnova domu byla prednejsi. Tak az v roce 1801 doslo ke stavbe veznice s deseti celami na konci ulice Vezenske v narozi mestských hradeb. Pripominaji to neprimo pisemnosti z roku 1816 tykajici se prodeje prudce svazitych pozemku lezicich na severnim svahu pod veznici, ktere pro svou polohu byly spatne vyuzitelne.
V roce 1811 byla u vsech veznu shledana podviziva. Denni strava sestavala z 25 dkg chleba a nekolika posolenych brambor. Veznove nemeli trestanecky ubor, chodili ve vlastnich roztrhanych a spinavych hadrech. V mistnosti o velikosti 3,5 x 3m se tisnilo sest osob. Nemocnym se neposkytovalo zadne osetreni, nekteri vezni byli zavirani i na noc do zelez.
I v dalsich letech bylo trutnovske vezeni pro tezke podminky postrachem siroko daleko. Byt tady zavren bylo pry uz samo o sobe velkym trestem.

History of the jail:
Town of Trutnov had a jail as well as the other medieval towns. By the end of 18th century a poor condition of the old jail led to the frequent escapes of the prisoners.
In the years 1797-1799 the city council began to negotiate with the regional authority to build a new jail mainly dealing with financial issues and a suitable location for the building. In 1798 the town announced that the construction would begin, but a fire in Trutnov in 1799 postponed it. Rebuilding the houses was the main priority. Finally in 1801 they built a new jail consisting of 10 cells in a corner of the city walls.
In 1811 the daily diet consisted of 25 ounces of bread and a few solted potatoes. In a room of size 3.5 x 3m six people were crowded. There was no treatment provided to the prisoners.
In the following years the jail was well known for tough conditions. Being shut here was a big punishment itself.

V roce 1902 si odpykavali v trutnovskem vezeni nekolikadenni trest mladici, kteri nasilne odstranili tabulku s ceskym oznacenim Narodniho domu.
Po zabrani Trutnova 8. rijna 1938 se rychle zaplnilo vezeni antifasisty prevazne z rad socialnich demokratu a komunistu. V prvnim tydnu jich bylo zatceno uz 47. Veznice byla preplnena, az tri veznove lezeli na jedne prycne.
Veznice uzivaly v letech okupace prubezne nacisticke soudy a gestapo, jejichz zlocinecka cinnost krvave poznamenala take trutnovsky svet.
V poslednich letech slouzila budova trutnovske veznice jako sklad civilni obrany. Tato historicka budova teprve ceka na svoje dalsi smysluplne vyuziti.

In 1902 several young men who forcibly removed a table with Czech marking of the National House served a sentence in the jail.
After the annexation of Trutnov 8th October 1938 the jail was quickly filled with anti-fascists mainly from the Social Democrats and Communists. In the first week they arrested already 47 of them. The jail was overcrowded and up to three prisoners shared one bunk.
During the years of occupation the jail was used continuously by Nazi courts and Gestapo, whose criminal activities also affected the town.
In recent years the building was used as a warehouse by Trutnov civil defense. This historic building is still waiting for its meaningful use.

How to find the cache:
This cache may be found with a compatible Garmin GPS unit (Garmin GPSmap 62 and 78, Garmin Oregon 300, 400 and x50 and Garmin Dakota 20) with up to date firmware. Once you have the current firmware you will need to 'enable' Chirp™ search mode via Setup>Geocaching>Enable Chirp™ searching. Be aware that leaving the Chirp™ feature enabled may shorten battery life so it may be best to switch it off after you make your find.
