Geocache Description:

A mystery cache that may not be of interest to many visitors to Iceland, but there are enough football fans and fans of puzzle caches (of which there are not that many in Iceland) to make setting this cache worthwhile.

On the date that is the title of this cache, two great teams met and played their first ever European match. The teams in question where of course KR Reykjavik (KNATTSPYRNUFÉLAG REYKJAVÍKUR)and Liverpool FC and this cache is hidden near the ground where the game was played.

At least that's what I thought as I'd previously visited the National Stadium in town and they said that KR didn't play there but at a ground some way away. However my thanks are due to Liverpool & KR fan Gunnar Stefánsson who told me the match was not played at the KR home ground near this cache !!

I have checked my rare & valuable programme for the game and found that, as Gunni said and I should have known, the game was indeed played at “Laugardalsallur” - the national football stadium near to my Kinky Football GC1YXD5 multicache!

To find the exact cache location of this cache you need to find the answers to the following questions:
I suggest you use ‘lfcineurope’ (https://www.lfchistory.net/seasonarchive) rather than ‘Wikipedia’ as source of information.

(a) The number of goals Liverpool scored in the game?
(b) The number of letters in the surname of the scorer of the 1st goal?
(c) How many goals had Liverpool scored at half time? (k) is the number they scored in the 2nd half.
(d) Liverpool’s record goal scorer is Roger Hunt. How many goals did he score in the match?
(e) How many Liverpool players got on their name of the score-sheet in that match?
(f) The second-leg of the tie was played at Anfield on which date in September?
(g) The largest cheer of that night was when KR scored their goal in the 36th minute! Gunnar ???? scored it and (g) is the number of letters in his surname.
(h) A programme for the 2nd leg at Anfield cost how many old pence (PRICE ? D) to buy at the ground?
(i) KR is an abbreviation for 2 Icelandic words. What is the total number of letters in these two words?
(j) Liverpool flew into Keflavik airport, of course, but they took off from an airport in Glasgow! The number of letters in the name of this airport is (j).
(k) At the time of the start of COVID in 2020, how many times had Liverpool won the UEFA Super Cup? OR SEE EARLIER :-)
(l) The number of letters in the surname of the Liverpool manager at the time of the KNATTSPYRNUFÉLAG REYKJAVÍKUR match?
(m) Is the total of all 4 digits in the year that Liverpool first won a European trophy?
(n) What number did W. Stevenson wear on his shirt in both games against KR ? Was it 1, 6, 9, 11 or 23? (Hint: It was his usual number; the one he had on his shirt for every game that season)

You can "corner" the cache and score a Smiley at N 64 degrees 0 x . y z þ W 0 2 q degrees r s . t u w where:-
x = a + e
y = b + d
z = h - e
þ = i / j

q = g - l
r = m - f - c
s = (f * d) - m
t = (k + h) - g
u = f - n
w = n + e

If they are training when you are there you may see something go in off the post!!

My thanks to those icons of Icelandic geocaching, Islandia Geomatics and Dreki for kindly offering to help me service this cache if necessary.

THEY'RE ALSO HELPING TO SAVE THE PLANET AS I LIVE IN UK AND DREAD TO THINK WHAT MY CARBON FOOTPRINT WOULD BE LIKE IF I HAD TO KEEP POPPING OVER TO ICELAND (much though I'd like to!) TO PERFORM MAINTENANCE.

Check digits:- The 4 missing North digits total 21 and the 6 missing West digits add up to 31.
