Cette multicache vous permettra de découvrir une partie du circuit des fontaines de Montigny-le-Roi. Au XIXème siècle on en dénombrait une dizaine.

Etape 1 : (N 47°59.931 – E 05°30.009)
Vous êtes face à la fontaine de l’Obélisque. Construite en 1848, c’était la plus importante du village.
Elle est ornée de gueules de lion d’où l’eau jaillit. A = nombre de gueules de lion.
Face à la fontaine se trouve un garde-corps avec une chaîne fixée sur des bornes. B = nombre de bornes.
Etape 2 : (N 47°59.799 – E 05°29.422)
Voici la source des Fontenottes qui alimente un lavoir. Une date est inscrite sur le côté droit du mur : CD août 1826.
Etape 3 : (N 47°59.795 – E 05°29.296)
La fontaine face à vous s’appelle la Fontaine au Roi. Selon une légende, le roi de Navarre Thibaud IV y fit boire son cheval, d’où le nom de la Fontaine.
Combien cette fontaine comporte-elle de bassins. E = nombre de bassins.

This multicache will allow you to discover some of the fountains at Montigny-le-roi. In the 19th century, there were around ten fountains in this village.

Step 1 : (N 47°59.931 – E 05°30.009)
You are in front of the « Obélisque fountain ». Built in 1848, it was the most important one of the village. It is adorned with faces of lions spounting water. A = number of faces of lions.
In front of the fountain, there is a guardrail with a chain fixed on bollards. B = number of bollards.
Etape 2 : (N 47°59.799 – E 05°29.422)
This is the spring of Fontenottes which runs into a wash house. A date is written on the right hand side of the wall : CD août 1826.
Etape 3 : (N 47°59.795 – E 05°29.296)
This fountain is called the King’s Fountain. According to legend, the horse of the King of Navarre Thibaud IV drank water here, giving the fountain its name.
