Diese kleine Reihe von Earthcaches soll euch mit einem Teil der Erdgeschichte bei Herrenberg vertraut machen. ---18.3.2012:Auf Wunsch von charlypino ändere ich die Startkordinaten dieses Earthcaches, damit man einen anderen Geocache auf der Übersichtskarte besser sehen kann. Von den oben angegebenen Koordinaten aus lauft ihr nun bitte 65 m in Richtung Norden zu 48° 36.143 / 008°52.887. Dort ist die Earth-Cache-Location.--- Dort habt ihr einen schönen Blick auf mehrere Schichten Schilfsandstein. Seine Verbreitung ist lückenhaft und unterschiedlich mächtig. Hier ist er in einer 10 m hohen Kappe erhalten, die den Schlossberg vor einer Abtragung bewahrte. Es handelt sich um feinkörnige, glimmerreiche, tonige gebundene Sandsteinschichten, hier in der durch Gehalt von zweiwertigem Eisen hervorgerufenen grünlichen Ausformung. Links oben ist eine „Flutrinne“ zu sehen, ein von einem Fluss in den Sandstein eingegrabenes Bett, dass später wieder mit sand aufgefüllt wurde. Anhand einer Informationstafel vor Ort erfahrt ihr etwas mehr. Wenn ihr sie durchgelesen habt, könnt ihr ohne Probleme folgende Fragen beantworten: a) Wie ist der Schilfsandstein entstanden? b) Welche Fossilien sind hier eingelagert? c) Was wurde aus dem Schilfsandstein u. a. gebaut? -----27.3.2012: Bis die Tafel wieder angebracht worden ist, schätzt ihr bitte die Höhe der sichtbaren Schilfsandsteinschicht.---- ---18.10.2021: Das Schild ist wieder da und die Fragen können wieder beantwortet werden.--- Sende mir bitte die Antworten auf meine Fragen. Du kannst sofort loggen. Ich melde mich, wenn etwas nicht stimmt. Wenn ihr den Log schreibt, fügt ihm bitte, wenn ihr möchtet, ein Foto bei, auf dem ihr und euer GPSr vor Ort zu sehen seid – das Schild sollte darauf allerdings nicht lesbar sein. Viel Spaß! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This little series of earthcaches is meant to let you learn a little about earth’s history around Herrenberg. ---18.3.2012: Due to the wish of geocacher charlypino I corrected the coordinates so that another geocache is better visible via the map. So now you walk from the coordinates given above about 65 meters north to 48° 36.143 / 008°52.887. there is the original Earthcache-location. --- From there you have a nice view on the “Schilfsandstein”-stone pit. The “Schilfsandstein”’s extension is intermittent and with different height. Here you see a horn of 10 meters, that prevented the “Schlossberg” (“castle-mountain” in Herrenberg) from being ablated. The beds are fine-grained sandstone-beds, rich of glimmer and bound in clay, here in a special green appearance that is due to the concentration of dibasic iron. At left side of the top you can see a “bayou”, a bed carved into the sandstone by a river, that has been refilled with sand. There is also a sign where you can learn about the site’s details. If you have read it, you can easily answer the following questions. a) How came the “Schilfsandstein” here? b) What kind of fossils can be found here? c) What was built with this material? ----27.3.2012: Until the missing table is replaced, your mission is to tell me how high the visible layer of Schilfsandstein is. ---- ----18.10.2021: The table ist replace. So you can answer the queations again. ---- Send me an email with the answers to the questions via your GC-account. You can log immiadiately, I will send you an email if anything should be wrong.
