Friend or Foe?
Carbon dioxide helps to balance plant and animal life. It's produced by plants and animals during respiration. It's also created during the burning of once living things (eg. wood, fossil fuels, etc.). When plants absorb carbon dioxide they store energy in the form of food, and they give off oxygen which is used by animals.
So what's the problem? Well, animals, plants, volcanoes and fires caused by lightning contribute to a certain level of greenhouse gases in our atmosphere. A compelling argument is building that we humans are contributing abnormal levels of greenhouse gases.
