Top of Mount Fernie. Hike distance ~8km return. Altitude gain ~900m.
The cache is at the top of Mount Fernie just past the bench. Located about 3 m down the slope, off the path, at the base of a group of 3 spruce trees.
Should be an easy find as long as you can make it to the top.
Hike is 4-5 hour round trip for average hikers, steady climb for the first hour and a half with a very steep ascent near the peak.
Standard hiking gear recommended (water, food, bear spray, clothing layers etc.)
There are three separate trail heads for this climb.
The first is located along Fairy Creek road (Parking at N 49 31.640 W 115 04.049) Follow road up until "Mount Fernie Ridge" sign.
The second is located along the power line cutline. Trailhead at N 49 31.309 W 115 04.481
The third leaves from Burma road, hiking map available at Fernie Chamber of Commerce.
