Lings Gym [SWE]
Pehr Henrik Ling (1776-1839) var en svensk gymnastiklärare och gymnastikpedagog, han var dessutom fäktmästare. Ling grundade Gymnastiska centralinstitutet 1813, föregångaren till Gymnastik- och idrottshögskolan, GIH. Han brukar kallas "den svenska gymnastikens fader".
Ling var även poet/författare, han skrev dikter och historiska skådespel. Han var ledamot i Svenska Akademien 1835-1839, stol nr 18. Gymnastiska centralinstitutet låg mellan 1813 och 1944 på den plats där Kulturhuset i Stockholm ligger idag, en staty av en gymnastpojke (inte Ling som tidigare påståts) finns framför Kulturhuset.
Ling bodde i det gula huset här bredvid från 1817 till sin död. Han lät 1825 bygga om ett stall till den gymnastikbyggnad som står här intill.
Pehr Henrik Ling ligger begravd på kullen "Lings kulle", cirka 200 norr om huset.

Pehr Henrik Ling (1776-1839) was a Swedish gym teacher and physical education teacher, he was also fencing master. Ling founded the "Gymnastiska centralinstitutet" 1813, the predecessor of "Gymnastik- och idrottshögskolan", GIH, he is called the "father of Swedish gymnastics".
Ling was also a poet / writer, he wrote poems and historical plays. He was a member of the Swedish Academy in 1835-1839, chair, No 18. "Gymnastiska centralinstitutet" was between 1813 and 1944 on the place where the Kulturhuset in Stockholm is today, a statue of a gymnast boy (not Ling as previously claimed) is in front of Kulturhuset.
Ling lived in the yellow house next door from 1817 until his death. In 1825 he rebuilds a stable to the gym building which stands next door.
Pehr Henrik Ling is buried on the hill "Lings Hill", about 200 meters north of the house.
