Geocache Description:

Very civilised cache this one. Can be located while out for an easy walk around Furzton Lake. Plus a car park close by.

FURZTON LAKE
Furzton Lake is a small balancing lake with a path all the way around it with houses over looking on one side. This lake is fantastic for a run or to briefly get away from the norm of today’s busy lifestyle. Constructed in the mid eighties as one of a series of "balancing lakes" - designed to hold floodwater during heavy rain, Furzton lake is now a valuable environment for wildlife, home to a large population of geese and waterfowl.

SCULPTURE
Providing a striking landmark at Furzton is the 'Triple Star Head sculpture' by Romanian artist Paul Neagu which was installed in early 2003. Shaped like a comet with its tail erupting from the earth the sculpture is on long-term loan from the Creative Arts Trust.

Look out too for the wooden sculptures on the islands near Lynmouth Crescent, which were installed in the mid eighties and have proved popular with the resident bird population.

FACILITIES
There are no facilities at the lake itself but there is a Pub located at the end of Shirwell crescent between the lakeshore and the H7 Chaffron way. Furzton Local centre at Dulverton Drive which has a Tesco Express and others shops etc about 10 minutes walk away to the southwest.

PARKING
There are three car parks at Furzton Lake, one off V4 Watling St opposite the National Bowl, one off Shirwell Crecent near the Hotel, and one off Lynmouth Crescent.

FISHING
Furzton Lake has become pretty well known within the fishing community for some quite sizeable carp. During the season you will often find many fishermuggles congregated on the north and west shores of the lake. They often fish overnight so if you want to nab this cache out of hours you may well still find you could be muggled!

THE CACHE
8cms * 6cms box (big enough for travel bugs) covered in black/green tape to help camouflage.

Probably the main problem will be the numerous muggles in the vicinity strolling by or fishing.

If you want to be sneaky take some bread so you can pretend to feed the ducks while snooping about!

Also the general location is easily accessible by wheelchair.

When you replace can you please try and cover with leaves/sticks. It's already been muggled once before!
