Geocache Description:

This is a cache from the series Gotteshaiser zu Lëtzebuerg (sacred architectures in Luxembourg). Everyone may participate in this series, one should however use the same common way of writing the title of the cache and also copy this text paragraph at the beginning of the cache description. It does not matter to which religion the place belongs but it should have some special historical or architectural characteristics. All caches of this series are named Gotteshaiser zu Lëtzebuerg: xxx where xxx stands for the luxemburgish name of the village. If there are more than 1 cache of this series in the same village, the second one will get a number 2 after his name and so on. The official coordinates of the cache shold not be too far away from the building (less than 25 m). The cache must not hurt the dignity of the place. If this can not be guaranteed or if the cache can not be placed near the building for other reasons, it should be a multi or even unknow cache in place of a traditional. Additionally there should also be some description of the place, so that geocachers could learn something about.
------------------------------------------------
This place has been on my potential cache sites for some time. The fact that the local authorities recently have restored the site should make it even more attractive.
What you will find is not exactly a house of god in the traditional sense of meaning. The site was used as a hiding place by a hermit called “Michel” at the end of the 18th century. As a hermit, Michel lived from the resources the forest and near surroundings offered him. He spent most of his time with praying and meditation, also for the people from the nearby villages, who provided him with food from time to time.
