Inkpaduta Canoe Trail # 19.5, Ritts Access Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Wonder Boy: This area doesn't amount to much anymore. The access is
only accessible by vehicle from one direction. No facilities
and poor access to the river. I've decided to archive this one
to make room for a BoCC cache near by.

Geocache Description:

PLEASE REMEMBER CACHE IN AND TRASH OUT

Although Ritts Access is not officially part of the Inpaduta Canoe Trail, it does come
between #’s 19 and 20 and it is located along the trail. When I was younger I used this
access as a put-in/take-out point on the river. It would be very difficult to use it as such
today though. The river has changed and bushwhacking would be required today to reach
the river.
Ritts Area is a 9-acre river access area providing Little Sioux River fishing access on the
northern edge of Washta, Iowa. Approximately 2 acres are accessible on the east side of
the river. The remainder is river channel and west bank flood plain. Best approach to the
cache is from Ritts Road off of Highway 31 just north of Washta. It is possible to park at
the old bridge in town and then walk to the access. The bridge is just off of Clark St. on
Ritts Road. If you like easy park and grabs you won’t like this cache. This is a more
challenging hide. The cache is not hidden in any way and visible from the right
angle. Use caution when approaching and retrieving. Please return it to it’s original
location. Should be easy to find that spot. This access sees little use now because of
the bridge closing. Not much here anymore. River is hard to get to now but has great
fishing at this spot, especially for catfish.
