LAT:Rezeknes pilsdrupas No 9. lidz 13. gs. uz pakalna upes krasta atradas nocietinata seno latgalu pils. 1285. gada Rozitten pili uzcelis vacu ordenmestrs Šurborgas Vilhelms un ta bija celta ka Livonijas ordena fogota rezidence. 13. gs. beigas šaja vieta Livonijas ordena bruninieki uzbuveja divstavu akmens pili, kuras galvenaja dala bija tris korpusi un trisstavu torni. Lai ieklutu pili, vajadzeja pariet par pacelamo tiltu, iziet caur trim dzelzs vartiem un pa celam, kas veda gar austrumu puses sienu, ieiet forburga (priekšpili). Ta ka pils bija strategiski nozimigs objekts, to ienemt tikoja krievi, lietuvieši, poli, bet pilniba nojauca zviedri 1656.–1660. gada. Pec tam ka cietoksni to vairs neatjaunoja. Sakot ar 1712. gadu apkartejiem iedzivotajiem tika oficiali lauts izmantot akmenus no pils sienam savu maju un saimniecibas eku pamatu buvniecibai. Vel pagajuša gadsimta sakuma pils teritorija atradas dzivojamas un saimniecibas ekas, bet dalu pils labiekartoja: izveidoja parku, ierikoja apgaismojumu, uzbuveja vasaras skatuvi teatrim. Šodien pilskalns ir visieverojamaka un turistu apmekletaka vieta Rezekne. No ta paveras burvigs skats uz pilsetas centru un veco pilsetas tirdzniecibas dalu. 2003. gada sakuma netalu no Rezeknes pilskalna, uznemuma „Rezeknes Udens” teritorija tika izvietots Rezeknes pils makets. Maketa autors – Rezeknes 14. arodvidusskolas pasniedzejs Edmunds Smans. Makets izveidots ar sabiedriskas organizacijas „Latvijas vestures parks” atbalstu. Pils modeli var redzet tikai turisma sezonas laika – no aprila lidz oktobrim. Laukums pilskalna pakaje nosaukts biskapa Jazepa Rancana (1886.–1969. gads) varda.

EN: From 9th to 13th centuries the embattled castle of ancient Latgalians was on the banks of the river. In 1285 the Rossiten castle was built by German holder of the order Wilhelm from Shurborg as the residence of the “Fogt” of Livonian order. In the end of 13th century there was built the 2 storey stone castle by the knights of Livonian order, its main part had 3 blocks and 3 storey towers. To get into the castle one should have gone over the balance bridge, through 3 iron gates and from the East side entered the front castle. Since the castle was strategically significant object, it was desired to be occupied by Russians, Lithuanians, Poles, but it was totally destroyed by Swedes in 1656-1660. It was not re-built as the castle. Beginning with the 1712 the surrounding inhabitants were officially allowed to use the stones from the castle walls for the building of own houses and household buildings. Still in the beginning of the last century the living and household buildings were in the territory of the castle, but part of the castle was landscaped: there was the park, light, summer stage for the theatre. Today the castle hill is the most remarkable and most visited place in Rezekne. The marvellous sight to the centre of the city and to the trading part of the city is opened from the hill. In the beginning of 2003 the model of Rezekne castle was placed in the territory of SIA “Rezeknes Udens” near the castle hill. The author of the model is Edmunds Smans, the teacher from Rezekne Vocational Secondary School no.14. It was placed there by the support of the public organization “Latvia History Park”. The model is open for public only in the tourism season – from April to October. The square near the foot of the hill is named after the Bishop Jazeps Rancans (1886-1969).
